Game Recaps for Monday
Alexander, Big Inning Spur RedHawks Win
Evan Alexander proved to be too much for the Winnipeg Goldeyes on Monday as he led the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to a 10-6 victory. In the home opener for the RedHawks, Alexander delivered four hits and drove in six. That made a winner of Kevin McGovern.
The RedHawks took the lead in the bottom of the third on a two-run homer by Alexander to make it 2-1. Winnipeg responded in the top of the fourth, scoring three runs to retake the lead, but Fargo-Moorhead all but put this game away in the bottom half of the inning, scoring six runs on four hits. A bases loaded walk to Ben Livorsi tied the score and an error plated Nick Novak to give the RedHawks the lead for good. Alexander followed with a two-run triple and scored on a wild pitch to make it 8-4.
Alexander added his second triple of the game in the bottom of the fifth, bringing home B.J. Lopez and drove home his sixth run of the game on an RBI double in the eighth. Alexander finished 4-5 with two runs scored, two triples, a double, and a home run, falling a single short of hitting for the cycle.
The Goldeyes responded in the top of the ninth, scoring two runs and loading the bases. However, Reid Birlingmair came on to induce a double play for his first save the season. Chris Burgess reached base all five times he came to the plate, going 3-3 with two walks for Winnipeg.
