In this edition of American Association Daily, Robert Pannier examines the highlights, transactions and news from the American Association for August 30, 2019. There five games played in the league on Friday, including the Kansas City T-Bones winning to move into a three way tie in the South Division and the St. Paul Saints clinching a playoff spot in the North.

Davis Homer Plus T-Bones into Three Way Tie, 3-1
The South Division got a whole lot tighter as the Kansas City T-Bones defeated the Sioux City Explorers thanks to a three run homer by Mason Davis as Kansas City prevailed, 3-1. Dylan Baker earned the win, allowing one unearned run in eight innings. Sioux City led by a run heading into the bottom of the eighth when Davis would win it with his second homerun of the season. The victory pulled the T-Bones into a first-place tie with the Explorers and the Cleburne Railroaders.
Saints Secure Playoff Spot, 4-3
A four run sixth inning proved to be all the offense the St. Paul Saints needed to defeat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, 4-3. St. Paul trailed by two entering the inning, but an error and a sacrifice fly allowed the Saints to tie the score. Jeremy Martinez, who homered twice the night before, put his team ahead with a single to left and Josh Allen added the eventual winning run. The victory secured the final playoff spot in the North for St. Paul.

Dogs Sweep Milkmen, 5-3
The Chicago Dogs completed the three-game sweep of their near neighbor, the Milwaukee Milkmen, 5-3. Victor Roache homered and drove in three runs to lead the Chicago offense. Jake Dahlberg allowed one earned run in six innings for the victory.

Saltdogs Rally to Down Railroaders, 6-5
The Lincoln Saltdogs scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to upset the Cleburne Railroaders, 6-5. Cleburne led by two entering the frame, but an error allowed Lincoln to pull within a run before Daniel Herrera hit a two run double to put his team on top for good. Austin Boyle earned the victory with a scoreless inning of relief and Nick Schulz hit his sixth homerun of the season.
Martin Helps Goldeyes to Sixth Straight Win, 5-4
Kyle Martin drove in three and Willy Garcia hit his 17th homer of the season as the Winnipeg Goldeyes defeated the Sioux Falls Canaries, 5-4. The victory was sixth straight for Winnipeg. The score was tied at one heading into the bottom of the seventh when the Goldeyes would score 4 runs to take the lead. Victor Capellan closed the contest out for his league leading 27th save.
American Association Notes
The St. Paul Saints victory on Friday night means that both playoff spots in the North have now been filled. St. Paul holds a one game lead over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks for the division lead…The Winnipeg Goldeyes won their sixth straight game…The Goldeyes traded LHP Kevin McGovern to the Atlantic League. That means that teammate Mitch Lambson will finish as the wins leader this season.
