Schmit Delivers Walk-Off Single in 10, Saints Win 3-2
The St. Paul Saints won in dramatic fashion on Thursday night as Blake Schmit delivered a walk-off single to give St. Paul a 3-2 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. Schmit finished the evening 2-6 with a run and an RBI. Eddie Medina started for St. Paul and gave up two runs in seven innings. Ken Frosch (2-1) earned the victory.
Canaries Down Milkmen, 7-5
Alay Lago and Adrian Nieto were both 3-5 with 2-RBI, helping the Sioux Falls Canaries to defeat the Milwaukee Milkmen, 7-5. The heart of the Sioux Falls lineup had a huge day, going 12-24 with 6 runs scored and 7 RBI. Alex Boshers (4-1) earned the victory.
McKinney Wins in First Start
John McKinney allowed two runs in 6.2 innings of work to earn the victory in his first professional start. Nate Samson was 4-5 with a run and 2 RBI to help lead the Sioux City Explorers to a 9-2 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs. It was the second straight night that Sioux City scored nine runs against Lincoln.
Lambson Blanks RailCats
Mitch Lambson allowed just six hits in going the distance as the Winnipeg Goldeyes defeated the Gary Southshore RailCats, 5-0. Lambson (3-1) tossed 113 pitches, 82 for strikes while striking out eight in the game. Josh Romanski was 4-5 for Winnipeg.
Railroaders Down T-Bones Late
A four run fifth inning put the Cleburne Railroaders on top by two. However, the Kansas City T-Bones battled back with three in the top of the eighth to take the lead. The lead did not last long, as Grant Buck’s two run single in the bottom half of the inning put Cleburne back on top and they went on to win 7-6. Zach Nehrir was 3-4 with 2 runs scored, a homer, and 3 RBI for Cleburne.
American Association Notes
St. Paul Saints right-hander Eddie Medina finally saw his string of scoreless innings come to an end when he gave up two runs in the top of the second to Fargo-Moorhead on Thursday. Medina set the franchise record with 32.0 innings without being scored upon…The Milwaukee Milkmen terminated the contract of hitting coach CJ Thieleke, after a video surfaced of him allegedly berating a team employee.
