Daily Recaps: June 14, 2019
Stankiewicz RBI Gives Explorers Extra-Inning Win
Drew Stankiewicz singled home Nate Samson in the top of the 10th inning to give the Sioux City Explorers a 6-5 victory over the Cleburne Railroaders. This was a great back-and-forth contest that saw the lead change hands five times. Jose Sermo hit his first homerun of the season for Sioux City and Jonathan Rodriguez had three hits for the Railroaders.
Ventura Stymies Goldeyes
Angel Ventura (2-4) held the Winnipeg Goldeyes to a run in 8 innings and Myles Smith came on to record his seventh save of the season as the Milwaukee Milkmen defeated the Goldeyes 2-1. Cesar Valera’s RBI double in the third and an RBI double by Sam Dexter in the fifth was the all the support Ventura needed. Ryan Johnson took the loss despite allowing only two runs in 5.2 innings.
T-Bones Pound AirHogs
The Kansas City T-Bones battered out 21 hits in their 13-6 victory over the Texas AirHogs. Dylan Tice had 3 hits and scored 4 runs and Roy Morales doubled twice and drove in four to lead the T-Bones. Seven players in the Kansas City lineup had at least two hits in the game.
Homers Help Canaries Soar to Victory
The Sioux Falls Canaries earned a 4-3 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs on Friday thanks to three homeruns. Alay Lago, Mike Hart, and Trae Santos each went deep for Sioux Falls. Taylor Hill (4-1) earned the victory, allowing 2 earned runs in 6 innings.
RedHawks Dampen Dogs
A heavy downpour reduced the contest between the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and the Chicago Dogs to just seven innings, but that was plenty enough for the RedHawks to pull out the 8-1 victory. Five runs in the sixth blew this game open. Devan Ahart had 3 hits and 3 runs and Brennan Metzger homered and drove in three.
Saints-RailCats Suspended
The contest between the St. Paul Saints and Gary Southshore RailCats was suspended with St. Paul leading 5-3. It will be continued before Saturday’s regularly scheduled matchup.
