Tepesch Gem Ends Saltdogs Skid
The Lincoln Saltdogs got a complete game shutout out of Nick Tepesch, ending their five game losing streak, as Lincoln defeated the Sioux City Explorers, 3-0. Tepesch allowed seven hits in winning his fifth game of the year. Tyler Moore drove in two runs to help pace the offense.
Seyler Hurls Canaries to Victory
Mark Seyler allowed two runs in seven innings as the Sioux Falls Canaries defeated the Milwaukee Milkmen 9-2. A five run first helped put the Canaries in the driver’s seat from the start. Five different players drove home a run, including Clint Coulter and Andrew Ely, who each had two RBI in the contest. Alay Lago had four hits in the game, raising his average to .390, tops in the American Association.
Bennett Homer Helps RedHawks Soar
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks battled back from a 4-1 deficit to down the St. Paul Saints on Sunday, 8-6. T. J. Bennett had the big blow, a three run homer in the seventh that put his team on top. Joe Filomeno (3-0) came out of the bullpen, tossing two scoreless innings to earn the victory. The RedHawks moved a half game behind St. Paul for the top spot in the North Division.
Railroaders Roll Thanks to Eight Run Frame
A night after a six run inning helped the Cleburne Railroaders down the Texas AirHogs, they were at it again, scoring eight in the seventh on their way to a 12-6 victory. Seven different players plated runners in the inning. Zach Nehrir and Nick Rotola each finished with three RBI.
Four Run Seventh Helps T-Bones Avoid Sweep
The Kansas City T-Bones scored four runs in the top of the seventh to down the Gary Southshore RailCats, 4-2, avoiding the three games sweep. After Kansas City took the lead, 2-1, Daniel Nava drove in two with a single up the middle. That made a winner of Tommy Collier, who allowed one run in six innings in second start since coming off the injured list.
Bullpen Leads Dogs to 5-2 Victory
It was a bullpen day for the Chicago Dogs and the group delivered, allowing two runs in nine innings to help the Dogs down the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 5-2. Carlos Zambrano earned his second win of the season, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings. Tony Rosselli had four hits for the Dogs.
