Bourassa Gem Spoiled by Railroaders
CLEBURNE, TX – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (17-17) lost 3-1 to the Cleburne Railroaders at The Depot at Cleburne Station on Tuesday night.
Kacy Clemens opened the scoring with a two-out, solo home run to left-centre in the bottom of the second to give Cleburne (10-24) a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the third, Tristan Pompey singled to right-centre leading off and advanced to second when Raul Navarro bunted for a single. After Railroaders’ starter Kody Bullard recorded back-to-back strikeouts, Max Murphy lined a single to centre that scored Pompey with the tying run.
The Railroaders went back in front in the bottom of the fourth. Zach Nehrir doubled into the right field corner leading off and scored two batters later on a single to right from Hector Sanchez.
Back-to-back doubles from Edwin Arroyo and Chuck Taylor in the bottom of the fifth produced the game’s final run.
Bullard (3-3) picked up the win, allowing one earned run on five hits over five innings. Bullard walked one and struck out five.
Goldeyes’ starter Landen Bourassa (0-1) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on seven hits over seven innings. Bourassa walked one and struck out a career-high nine.
Michael Krauza picked up his first save of the season with a scoreless top of the ninth.
