Chicago Dogs IF Dusty Stroup Named American Association Player of the Week

Dogs Infielder Dusty Stroup Named Player of the Week
On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report Chicago Dogs infielder Dusty Stroup as the Player of the Week for Week 15 of the 2024 season. Stroup had an impressive week, homering five times while driving in 15.
The Dogs began the week with a three games series at the Kansas City Monarchs and Stroup got rolling right away, going 5-13 in the series with four runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, and seven RBI. He opened the series by going 1-4 with a run scored, then hit a three-run home run as his only hit in a 1-5 performance in Game 2 of the series. In the final game, Stroup went 3-4 with two runs scored, two doubles, a home run and four RBI.
Next, the Dogs welcomed the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks and Stroup continued to be a hit machine, going 4-10 in the series with six runs scored, three homers, and eight RBI. He also walked four times in the series. In the opener, the infielder went 1-4 with two runs scored and drove in four for the second straight game. He homered for the third straight game. The second contest of the series saw the Dogs slugger homer for the fourth straight game as he went 1-3 with three runs scored, two RBI, and two walks. In the final contest of the series, Stroup went 2-3 with a run scored, he homered for the fifth straight game, and drove in two.
Stroup went a combined 9-23 (.391) for the week, extending his hitting streak to nine straight games. He scored 10 times, homered five times, had seven extra base hits, and drove in 15, all of which led the league. In addition, Stroup was first in slugging percentage (1.130) and third in OPS (1.630).
Dusty Stroup signed with Schaumburg (Frontier League) in 2021, hitting .210 in 21 games. He played in the Pioneer League in 2022, then joined Rocky Mountain (Pioneer League) in 2023, hitting .343 in 94 games. Stroup clubbed 20 home runs and drove in 108. This season he is hitting .259 with 18 homers and 55 RBI in 72 games.
Dusty Stroup is the second Chicago Dogs player to receive Player of the Week honors this season. Narciso Crook was chosen in Week 1.
