Chicago Dogs IF Jacob Teter Named American Association Player of the Month

Dogs IF Jacob Teter Named June Player of the Month
On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Chicago Dogs infielder Jacob Teter as the American Association Player of the Month for the month of August. It is the second time this season that he has been selected as Player of the Month, earning the honor back in June.
Teter began the month with the final contest of a three-game set against the Kane County Cougars, going 0-4. The Dogs then took on the Gary SouthShore RailCats, and Teter was red-hot, going 5-12 in the series, with three runs scored, four doubles, a triple, and three RBI. He also walked twice. He went 2-4 in the opener with two doubles and a run scored, then with 1-3 with a run, a double, and three RBI in the second game of the set. He finished by going 2-5 with a double, triple, and a run.
The team then traveled to Cleburne and Teter was incredible in the six game series, going 13-22 in the series, earning Player of the Week honors. The infielder scored five runs in the series, doubled four times, homered twice, and drove in nine. He began the series by going 3-4 with a run scored, a homer, two doubles, and season high seven RBI. He then went 1-2, walking three times, and following with his second homer of the series as part of a two-hit game. He went 2-5 in that contest with a walk. In the fourth game, Teter with 1-2 with a run, double, and two walks. The fifth game of the series saw the infielder go 4-5 with a run scored, a double, and an RBI. He closed out the series by going 2-4 with a run scored and a walk.
Chicago traveled to Kansas City to take on the Monarchs next and Teter continued his hit parade, going 4-10 in the series with three runs scored, a double, and an RBI. He also drew two walks. Teter went 2-4 in the opener, then went 1-3 in each of the next two games. He scored two times in the final game of the set.
The Dog returned home to welcome the RedHawks and Teter went 5-16 in the series. He opened with a 3-5 performance, scoring three times. He doubled and homered twice in that contest, drinving home four. In the second game, Teter went 1-6 with a run and closed by going 1-5 with a run.
The team then traveled to Milwaukee, and the Dogs infielder opened by going 2-3 with a run, a home run, and two RBI. He was held hitless in five at-bats in the second contest, ending his 16-game hitting streak. Teter finished the series by going 1-2 with his sixth home run of the month. He drove in a run and walked twice.
Next, Chicago welcomed Lake Country, and Teter went 1-3 in each of the first two games. He closed out the series by going 3-4 with a run scored, a double, and an RBI. In the three-game series, Teter was a combined 5-10 with a run, two doubles, and RBI, and two walks.
The Dogs then welcomed the Milkmen and Teter was held hitless in the second game of that series as well, giving him just three hitless games out of 27 contests he played in August. However, the first and third games of the series were spectacular. Teter went 3-5 with a run scored in the opener and went 4-5 with two runs scored and two RBI in the final game.
The Dogs closed August with two games against the RailCats. He went 2-4 with two runs scored, a double, a home run, and an RBI in the opener. On Saturday, Teter hit two solo home runs.
Jacob Teter led the American Association in hitting in August at .425 (45-106). He scored 27 runs, has 13 doubles, nine homers, and 23 extra base hits. He also drove in 27 runs and led the league with a gaudy .519 on-base percentage, walking 20 times.
Jacob Teter was selected in the 13th round of the 2021 draft by the Baltimore Orioles. He spent three seasons in the Orioles organization, reaching AA-Bowie in 2023. He began the season with the Houston Astros organization at High-A Asheville, but was released after just one game. In four minor league seasons, Teter hit .251 with 14 home runs and 88 RBI in 167 games. Teter joined the Chicago Dogs this season and has been spectacular, tied for the league lead in batting (.347), second in home runs (28), and first in RBI (93) on his quest for the first Triple Crown in American Association history.
