On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Chicago Dogs infielder Jacob Teter as the American Association Player of the Month for the month of June. Teter was impressive, posting a .385 batting average with 10 homers and 31 RBI in June.
Teter entered the month hitting .303 and on a six-game hit streak. The hits just kept coming. After being held hitless on June 2, the infielder then went on a 12-game hitting streak and was held hitless just two times during the month. He closed out the month on an 11-game hitting streak and had 11 multi-hit games in June.
The month began against the Cleburne Railroaders, where Teter went 1-6 with two runs scored, a home run, an RBI, and a walk in the final two games of the series. That dropped his batting average to .292.
Next, Chicago traveled to take on the Milwaukee Milkmen and Teter began to roll, going 5-12 in the series with two runs scored, two doubles, and two RBI. He was 2-7 through the first two games, then went 3-5 to close out the set.
Next, the team traveled to take on the Kane County Cougars and the infielder was 3-12 in the series, scoring twice and driving in two. He also homered in the final contest of the series.
Teter came out of Kane County hitting .302, but his team returned home and the infielder got on a roll, recording four two-hit games over the next six contests. The Lincoln Saltdogs were the first victims of Teter’s bat, as he went 5-9 in the series with a run scored and six RBI. He walked twice in each of the first two games and had a five RBI performance in the final contest of the series.
Next, the Cougars came to town, and Teter was 3-10 in the series. He hit his 11th home run of the season in the opening contest, but was held hitless in the final game of the series.
The Dogs then traveled to Sioux Falls to take on the Canaries where Teter began his 11-game hitting streak. He had single hits in each of the first two contests, including adding his 12th homer of the season in the opening game. He closed out with a 2-4 performance, scoring a run and adding a double.
Next, Chicago welcomed the Kansas City Monarchs to town. Teter went 5-10 in the series, scoring one run in each of the three contests. He homered in the second game of the series while driving in three and had an RBI in the final game.
Winnipeg then came to town and Teter went 4-13 in the series. More importantly, the team swept all three games.
To close out the month, Chicago traveled to Fargo-Moorhead and Teter was a very rude guest to the RedHawks, going 7-13 in the series with five runs scored, three home runs, and seven RBI. He went 3-5 in the opener with a run scored, two doubles, and three RBI. He homered in the second game of the series as part of a two-hit performance, then went 2-3 with three runs scored, two home runs, and three RBI in the final game of the set.
