Christopher Helps Canaries Soar over RedHawks
FARGO – The Sioux Falls Canaries (14-14) got back on the winning track with a 13-7 victory at Newman Outdoor Field Friday night. Charlie Hasty, Colby Wyatt, and DJ Sharabi combined for five innings of scoreless relief to help power the victory.
Hasty (1-0) entered the game in the fifth with the score 9-7 and carved three innings of one-hit, four-strikeout ball en route to his first win of the year. Fargo starter Logan Nissen (1-2) suffered the loss after allowing nine runs (nine earned) in 4.1 innings. Wyatt put together a 1-2-3 eighth before Sharabi, in his return from the Injured List, set aside the Redhawks (17-12) in order in the ninth.
Shamoy Christopher tagged the Fargo starter for his first professional home run in the first. The three-run shot capped a six-run inning for the Birds to start the game. Jabari Henry added his fifth home run of the season in the second. Logan Landon went deep for the fourth time in the last three games in the fourth.
Henry reached base five times. Landon notched two hits, as did Christopher, Mike Hart, and Wyatt Ulrich. Sioux Falls outhit Fargo 13-11. The win snapped a three-game losing skid for Sioux Falls.
The Canaries and Redhawks continue the series tomorrow at 6:00 pm. RHP Tyler Garkow (1-2, 5.58 ERA) is expected to get the start for the Canaries vs. RHP Bret Helton (2-2, 5.40 ERA) for the Redhawks. A live broadcast of the game will be available via Fox Sports 98.1 FM. The Redhawks will also stream the game live via American Association Baseball TV.
