Osvaldo Martinez Given PURE Performance Player Honors

The Minor League Sports Report and This Week in the Association announced that Cleburne Railroaders infielder Osvaldo Martinez has been named the PURE Performance Player of the Week for Week 10 of the 2021 American Association season. Martinez hit .348 with four homers and seven RBI during the week.

The Railroaders began the week with a three-game series against the Gary SouthShore RailCats. Martinez went 5-11 in the series, scoring seven runs, hitting two home runs, and driving in three. He also stole two bases in the series. The Cleburne infielder began with a 2-3 performance in the opening contest, scoring four runs. He then went 2-5, scoring two runs, hitting a home run and driving in two in a 4-2 victory in the second game of the series. Martinez closed out the series with a 1-3 performance, hitting his second homerun of the week in a 6-5 victory.

The team then moved on to play the Chicago Dogs, where Martinez went 3-12, with three runs, a double, two home runs, and four RBI. He went 1-8 through the first two games with a homerun, then went 2-4 with two runs scored, a homer, and three RBI on Sunday. The Railroaders won that game, 8-3.

Osvaldo Martinez led the league in home runs last week with four and in runs with 10. He was first in slugging percentage at .913. Martinez was fourth in OPS at 1.298.

For earning PURE Performance Player of the Week, Osvaldo Martinez will receive a check for $100 from PURE. Martinez becomes the first Railroaders player to earn Player of the Week honors. Michael Mariot was named PURE Performance Pitcher of the Week honors in Week 2.
