Cleburne Railroaders OF Hill Alexander Named American Association Player of the Week

Railroaders OF Hill Alexander Named Player of the Week
On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Cleburne Railroaders outfielder Hill Alexander as the Player of the Week for Week 7 of the 2024 season. Alexander had an impressive week, hitting. 500 with eight runs scored and eight RBI in six games.
The Railroaders began the week in Fargo-Moorhead, taking on the RedHawks. Alexander was impressive, going 7-15 with four runs scored, two doubles, a home run, and five RBI. He began the series going 2-6 with two runs scored, a double, and three RBI in an 18-11 victory. Alexander went 1-5 in the second game, a 3-2 loss, the only loss of the week for the Railroaders. To close out the series, Alexander was a perfect 4-4 with two runs scored, a double, a homer, and two RBI. He also walked in the contest.
The team then traveled to Kansas City, and Alexander did not slow down against the Monarchs. In the opener, the outfielder went 1-4 with a walk and an RBI. He went 1-3 with a run in the second game, and closed out the series with another four-hit performance, going 4-4 with three runs, a home run, and two RBI on Sunday. Overall, Alexander went 6-11 in the series with four runs scored, a homer, and three RBI.
For the week, Alexander went 13-26 with eight runs scored, two doubles, two home runs, and eight RBI. He also walked four times. The outfielder finished fourth in on-base percentage (.565), and was first in both slugging percentage (.808) and OPS (1.375).
Hill Alexander was selected in the 28th round of the 2019 draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. He spent three years in the Rays system, reaching AA-Montgomery in 2022. In three years, Alexander hit .266 with 24 homers and 109 RBI in 165 games. He joined the Railroaders in 2022, hitting .311 with 12 homers and 48 RBI in 63 games. Last season, Alexander had another impressive campaign, appearing in all 100 games while hitting .287 with 23 homers and 70 RBI. This season the slugger is off to a fast start, hitting .315 through the first 45 games with eight home runs and 36 RBI.
Alexander is the third Cleburne Railroaders player to earn Player of the Week honors this season. Jaxx Groshans won in Week 3 and Brian O’Grady earned the honor in Week 5.
