This was a very impressive week for John Silviano, as not only did he have four two-hit games, but helped his club go 6-1 to become the first American Association team to clinch a playoff spot.
The week began with a four-game series against Sioux Falls Canaries. Silviano was a combined 7-16 with four runs scored, two doubles, two homers, and seven RBI. He had at least one hit and one RBI in all four games. The week began with a 2-3 performance, driving in a run and drawing a walk in a 6-4 victory over the Canaries. In the second game, Silviano homered for the first time during the week, going 2-5, with both of his hits going for extra basis, a double and a homerun. He drove in three in the 9-4 victory.
In the third game, Silviano went 1-4, drilling a two-run homer in a 7-0 victory. He closed the series with a 2-4 performance, doubling, scoring two runs, and driving in his seventh run of the series.
Next, the RedHawks traveled to take on the Chicago Dogs. Fargo-Moorhead won the first two games of the series, extending their winning streak to nine straight games. In the opener, Silviano was held hitless in a 3-2 victory, but he went 2-5 in the second game, scoring twice, hitting his third homerun of the week, and driving in three in a 9-8 victory. He closed out the series with a 2-4 performance, going 4-13 overall, with two runs scored, a homerun, and three RBI.
Silviano finished the week 11-29 with six runs scored, five extra-base hits, and 10 RBI. His 10 runs driven in led the league and he was third in slugging (.759) and ninth in OPS (1.159).
John Silviano was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 13th round of the 2012 draft. He spent three seasons in the Blue Jays organization before moving onto the Miami Marlins in 2016. Silviano spent four years in the Marlins organization, reaching AA-Jacksonville in both 2018 and 2019. In seven seasons in the minors, Silviano hit 46 homeruns and had a .211 batting average in 382 games.
In 2019 he joined the St. Paul Saints for the second half of the season, hitting .241 with 13 homeruns in 57 games. He returned to St. Paul in 2020, hitting .231 with 14 homers in 58 games. Silviano is on pace to break his season high RBI mark, already recording 68 in 87 games this season. He is batting .279 with a .395 on-base percentage, hitting 19 homers.
