Ryan Flores Given PURE Performance Pitcher Honors

The Minor League Sports Report and This Week in the Association announced that Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks RHP Ryan Flores has been named the PURE Performance Pitcher of the Week for Week 7 of the 2021 American Association season. Flores posted a 0.00 ERA and had three saves during the week.

Ryan Flores appeared in three games, going 2.0 innings in each of those outings while earning the save. His first outing came on June 28 in a 12-9 victory over the Winnipeg Goldeyes. This was a wild contest that saw the two teams combine for 21 runs through the first five innings, but Flores came on in the eighth and closed the door. He allowed two hits while striking out four. The righty gave up a single to start the frame, then gave up a fielder’s choice before striking out the next two batters to close out the inning. In the ninth, he gave up a two-out single, then struck out Dakota Conners to close out the game. Of the 34 pitches Flores threw, 21 went for strikes.

In the closing contest of that series, Flores closed the door on a 10-9 victory. The RedHawks had taken the lead in the bottom of the seventh with a five-run frame, then the righty came on to close it out. He went two innings, allowing two walks while striking out three. He opened the inning striking out Jay Gonzalez, then hit the next batter before giving up a walk. With first and second and one down, the right-hander got a ground out before striking out Logan Hill. In the ninth, he gave up a two-out walk before getting Tyler Hill to ground back to the mound to close out the game.

On Saturday, Flores finished off a 4-3 victory against the Milwaukee Milkmen. The righty came on in the eighth with two on. He gave up a wild pitch that scored a run, but struck out the side to limit the damage. In the ninth, he gave up a leadoff single before retiring the next three batters to record his fourth save of the season.

Ryan Flores tossed 6.0 innings, allowing three hits and two walks. He struck out 10. Opposing players hit .143 against him and he had a 0.83 WHIP.

For earning PURE Performance Pitcher of the Week, Ryan Flores will receive a check for $100 from PURE. Flores is the second Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks player to receive PURE Performance Pitcher of the Week honors this season. Kevin McGovern earned it twice, winning in Week 1 and Week 3. Corrrelle Prime has been selected as PURE Performance Player of the Week.
