Fort Wayne Mad Ants Andre Emmett No. 20 on Prospect List
The Fort Wayne Mad Ants star guard/small forward Andre Emmett has recently been ranked at number 19 on the NBA D-League’s Prospect Watch Top 30 Rankings. It is a well deserved accomplishment, as he is one of the most versatile scorers in the league. Emmett is capable of leading an offense as well as being the offense when need be. He has routinely scored over 20 points a game and averages 5 rebounds per contest. In the past few games, he has scored over 30 points per game.
Emmett was picked 35th overall in the 2004 NBA draft by the then Seattle SuperSonics. Moments later he found himself on the move, dealt to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Emmett spent the 2004-2005 season in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies, and returned for a short stint in 2012 with the New Jersey Nets. He has appeared in 14 career NBA games, averaging 1.4 ppg and 0.6 rpg. In the six games he played for New Jersey in 2012 he averaged an impressive 57.1 percent shooting from the field.
The main question that looms over his return to the NBA is if he still possesses enough ability to compete at the next level, at age 32. All of the offensive tools are present, but he needs to make some improvements on defense if he is going to return to the NBA. At the very least, Emmett could be a solid 6th man for any team that needs a spark off of the bench.
