Goldeyes Drop Opener, Navarro Streak Ends
FRANKLIN, WI – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (41-31) lost 5-0 to the Milwaukee Milkmen at Franklin Field on Friday night.
In the bottom of the second, Dylan Kelly poked a double down the left field line with one out. Kelly took third on Logan Trowbridge’s infield single and scored the game’s first run on a wild pitch. Bryan Torres made it 2-0 with a two-out single to centre that scored Trowbridge.
Trowbridge doubled down the right field line with one out in the bottom of the sixth, and scored two batters later on a two-out single through the left side from Jeremiah Burks.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Trowbridge hit a two-run double down the right field line.
Milkmen starter AJ Jones picked up the win, pitching six shutout innings on two hits. Jones walked one and struck out five.
Goldeyes’ starter Landen Bourassa took the loss, allowing three earned runs on eight hits in five and two-thirds innings. Bourassa walked three and struck out four.
Raul Navarro’s 24-game hitting streak came to an end. Navarro hit .420 (42-for-100) during the streak.
