Grand Prairie AirHogs Press: May Update
The Grand Prairie AirHogs have been tweaking their roster over the last four weeks preparing for the upcoming American Association season. This is a team looking to make a real splash this season, and with just a few spots left on their roster they have been looking to add just the right talent to ensure that they have a shot at the South Division title. That has meant that they have added just one player, while dealing away another and releasing two more. They want the very best talent, and so it is going to take a real special player to make this season’s squad.
Key Transactions
On Tax Day the Grand Prairie AirHogs added an asset to the club and deducted another player from the roster. LHP Jared Gaynor was traded to Lincoln to complete an earlier deal between the two clubs. Gaynor had been acquired from the Wichita Wingnuts late last season, where he had been struggling, but after reaching Grand Prairie he was flourishing in his two starts with the AirHogs.

OF Hayden Jennings was the asset. He was out of baseball last season. In 2012 and 2013 he played for the Washington Nationals rookie league team. In his two seasons he combined to hit .218 with 20 RBI and 40 runs scored in 91 total games played. Jennings is an outstanding defensive outfielder who can play all three spots exceptionally well.
On the 23rd of April, OF Madison Carter was released by the club. Carter appeared in 37 games for the AirHogs last season, hitting .248 with 9 RBI and 12 runs scored. Seven days later OF Eric Baker was also released. Baker appeared in 91 games for Grand Prairie last season. He hit .224 with 31 runs scored and 22 RBI.
