Haviar Delivers Walk-Off Single, AirHogs Win Night Cap, 4-3
The battery pair of Stephen Haviar and Kevin Hilton come up big offensively and defensively as they walk off for a 4-3 win.
After losing game 1 of the double header, which had to be cut short in July due to a lighting issue, the AirHogs came strong in game 2. All Star Kevin Hitlon proved his nod again as he battled through a 7 innings, allowing just 3 earned runs. He escaped a bases loaded jam in the 1st, allowing only one run and then allowed a two run homer by Hunter Clanin in the 3rd. Those would be the last RailRoader runs to cross that plate
The AirHogs started their scoring early as well with a 2 out RBI double by Li Ning. Ning would also later single in another RBI in the 4th. The other AirHog run was scored on an RBI groundout by Stewart Ijames.
Game two was scheduled to be played in only 7 innings but with both pitching staffs staying strong, the game went into extras.
After 7 strong innings from Kevin Hilton Tyler Matzek came out of the bullpen for a perfect 8th inning, striking out two, earning the win.
With one out in the bottom of the 8th, Matt Dean worked a clutch walk, and then Chen Junpeng was awarded first base on catcher’s interference. Luo Jinjun would then single but with the runner being held up, the bases were left loaded for Yang Jin who struck out. That brought up Steven Haviar. Haviar would get down to his last strike when he blasted a line drive to the right center field gap to give the AirHogs the 4-3 victory.
The AirHogs will face these same Cleburne RailRoaders tomorrow as Eric Manoah Jr. will face Jesus Sanchez 7:05 at AirHog stadium.
