In today’s edition, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report name Kane County Cougars outfielder Todd Lott as American Association Player of the Week for Week 12 of the 2023 season.

Cougars OF Todd Lott Named Player of the Week

On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Kane County Cougars outfielder Todd Lott as the Player of the Week for Week 12 of the 2023 American Association season. Lott had a dominating week, hitting seven home runs while batting .360.

The week got off to a fast start for the outfielder, as he homered three times in an 8-7 victory over the Kansas City Monarchs on Tuesday. Lott drove in six in the contest, going 3-5. He went a combined 1-7 over the final two games of the series, scoring a run, walking twice, and adding a double. In the three-game set against the Monarchs, the outfielder went 4-12 with four runs scored and six RBI.

Next up was the Lincoln Saltdogs, where Lott was a combined 5-13 with four runs scored, four home runs, and eight RBI. Four of the five hits that Lott produced in Lincoln were home runs. The outfielder opened the series with a 2-4 performance, hitting two solo home runs. He went 2-4 on Saturday as well, hitting another solo home run. On Sunday, Lott delivered a grand slam, driving in five in an 11-6 victory.

For the week, Lott went a combined 9-25 with eight runs scored, seven home runs, and 14 RBI. He led the league with an impressive 1.240 slugging percentage and was second with a 1.647 OPS.

Todd Lott was selected in the ninth round of the 2019 draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. He spent four years in the organization, reaching AA-Springfield in both 2022 and 2023. In four seasons with the organization, Lott hit a combined .243 with 31 homers and 133 RBI in 271 games. The outfielder joined the Kane County Cougars on July 15 and has been on fire, hitting a combined .313 with 10 runs scored and 20 RBI in 12 games.

Lott is the second Cougars player to receive Player of the Week honors. Outfielder Jonah Davis received the award back in Week 6.
