LINCOLN, NEB. – The Lake Country DockHounds win the finale of the series in Lincoln, defeating the Saltdogs 5-1 in a five-inning rainout.
Evan Kruczynski took the mound for Lake Country in game three of the series and dominated the whole contest. He pitched five innings, allowed one run, and fanned eight in arguably his best performance this season.
The scoring began in the second inning with the DockHounds scoring two runs. Gio Brusa led off the inning with a full-count walk and was driven in by Tristen Carranza’s triple.
Aaron Takacs would then ground out to the shortstop JR DiSarcina who had no choice but to throw to first for the out. Takacs drove in Carranza with the play. The score was 2-0, Lake Country leading.
The only score for the Saltdogs would come from the bat of Justin Byrd, who hit a solo home-run that went out of Haymarket Park into their parking lot. It was a home run that would headline news on the American Association’s social media pages.
Brusa would draw a second walk to start the fourth inning. Carranza doubled in that frame, and he along with Brusa would be driven in by a Takacs single.
The DockHounds finished the scoring with Jake Snider hitting a double, driving in Aaron Takacs.
Kruczynski would earn the win for the DockHounds, and Elijah Johnson would take the loss for Lincoln.
Lake Country will head to Chicago for a three-game series before heading home to Oconomowoc. First pitch will be in Chicago at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 17th.
