DockHounds SS Josh Altmann Named Player of the Week
On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Lake Country DockHounds shortstop Josh Altmann as the Player of the Week for Week 6 of the 2024 season. Altmann had an impressive week, posting a .444 batting average with eight runs scored and nine RBI.
Josh Altmann spent the entire week facing off against the Cleburne Railroaders in Wisconsin. He began the series off right, going 4-5 with a run scored, a double, a home run, and six RBI in an 11-3 victory. The next night Altmann was held hitless, going 0-3. Yet, he still scored a run and walked in the contest. The shortstop then went 1-5 in the third game.
Altmann then closed out the series right, going 3-5 with two runs scored and a double in the fourth game of the series and went 1-4 in the fifth, with his only hit being a solo home run. The shortstop then closed out the series with a 3-5 performance, scoring three times and homering twice, while driving in two. His third hit in the contest was a double.
For the series, Altmann was a combined 12-27, with his .444 batting average, ranked seventh in the league. He was tied for the league lead with three home runs and finished second with nine RBI. His eight runs scored were tied for first during the week. Altmann finished with the seventh best OPS (1.374) and the second-best slugging percentage (.926).
Josh Altmann was selected in the 22nd round of the 2015 draft by the Texas Rangers. He spent five seasons in the Rangers organization, reaching AA-Frisco in 2019. Altmann posted a .235 batting average with 45 home runs and 199 RBI in 472 games in the minors. In 2021, the shortstop joined the Lincoln Saltdogs, where he spent two seasons. Altmann was an MVP candidate in 2021 after hitting .305 with 29 homers and 72 RBI in 85 games. In 2023, the slugger joined the Chicago Dogs, hitting .290 with 26 homers and 88 RBI in 98 games. This season he got off to a slow start, but he has dominated lately, posting a .279 batting average with nine homers and 33 RBI in 34 games total. He has also stolen 15 bases, thrown out just one time.
