Lincoln Saltdogs IF Josh Altmann Named PURE Performance Player of the Month for July

Josh Altmann Named PURE Performance Player of the Month.
This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report in partnership with PURE name Lincoln Saltdogs IF Josh Altmann as the PURE Performance Player of the Month for July. Altmann led the American Association in homeruns during the month, despite the fact that he missed nearly 2 weeks because of Covid-19 protocols.
The Saltdogs began July with the final game of a three-game set against the Cleburne Railroaders. Altmann went 1-4 in that contest, hitting his first homerun of the month.
The team then moved on to Kansas City, where they played a four-game series. The Lincoln shortstop went a combined 6-15 with five runs scored, six RBI, and three home runs. He hit home runs in three of the four games in the series.
Next, the team welcomed to the Sioux City Explorers for a four-game series. Altmann went a combined 5-15 with five runs scored and three RBI. He hit his fifth homerun of the month in the opening game of the contest, his third straight game with a homerun.
Next, the team welcomed Fargo-Moorhead. Altmann went a combined 4-10 in the series, scoring three runs and driving in three. He homered in each of the first two games of the series and also walked four times against the RedHawks.
Next, Lincoln traveled to Jackson to take on Winnipeg, where Altmann opened the series with a 3-3 performance, scoring a run, adding a double, and hitting a two run home run. He finished 4-9 in the series.
The Saltdogs moved on to Sioux Falls to take on the Canaries next, a sweep for Lincoln. Altmann had a huge series, going 5-16 with four runs scored, three home runs, and seven runs driven in. In the second game of that series, an 18-5 victory, the Lincoln infielder with 3-6 with two homeruns and five runs driven in.
After the Sioux Falls series, Altmann was held out of action for the next 12 days, returning for the final two games against Winnipeg to close out the month. He made the most of those two contests, going 6-9 with three runs scored, two doubles, and two homeruns. He also drove in seven runs in the two contests, including six on Saturday.
For the month, Josh Altmann hit .390 with 22 runs scored and 29 runs driven in. He had six doubles and led the American Association with 13 homeruns. He also stole four bases. Altmann posted an impressive .457 on-base percentage and a .939 slugging percentage.
For earning the PURE Performance Player of the Month award, Josh Altmann will receive a check for $250 from PURE. Altmann was also named as the PURE Performance Player of the Week for Week 9.
