Lincoln Saltdogs OF Nick Anderson Named American Association Player of the Week

Saltdogs OF Nick Anderson Named Player of the Week
On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Lincoln Saltdogs outfielder Nick Anderson as the Player of the Week for Week 4 of the 2023 American Association season. Anderson had an outstanding week, hitting .438 with four homeruns and nine RBI in five games.
The Lincoln Saltdogs began the week with a three-game set against the Kansas City Monarchs, and Anderson had an outstanding series, going 3-8 with five runs scored, three home runs, and six RBI. He began the week playing a pivotal role in the victory over Kansas City on Tuesday (11-7), going 2-3, with three runs scored, two home runs, and five RBI. In the second game, the outfielder went 1-2 with his third home run of the week, and closed the series with a 0-3 performance, walking twice and scoring a run.
Lincoln then traveled to take on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, and Anderson was 4-8 through the first two games. He went 3-4 in the opener, hitting his fourth home run of the week while driving in three. In the second game, Anderson went 1-4 with two walks. He sat out Sunday’s contest.
For the week, Nick Anderson finished second in batting average (.438) going a combined 7-16. His four homers were tied for the most in the league during the week. He scored six runs and had nine RBI, and his seven walks were also tied for the most. That helped him to produce a .625 on-base percentage, best in the American Association last week, and his 1.813 OPS was also best.
Nick Anderson began his professional career with River City (Frontier League) in 2019, hitting .242 in 50 games. Two seasons later, his contract was purchased by the Minnesota Twins and he spent 33 games in Fort Myers. He also split time with the Houston Apollos and Kane County Cougars that season, hitting a combined .310 in 22 games. Last season he appeared in 64 contests for the Cougars, hitting .251. This season Anderson is hitting .295 for Lincoln, and is leading the American Association with nine home runs.
