Minier Sharp in Saltdogs Victory
Greg Minier allowed one earned run in six innings as the Lincoln Saltdogs defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 10-5. Lincoln scored nine unanswered runs to begin the contest, including six in the bottom of the third. Justin Byrd had a huge day for the Saltdogs, hitting his 11th homerun of the season while driving in four runs. Curt Smith had three hits and Zak Taylor scored three runs, reaching base all four times in the contest.
Winnipeg was led by for players who each had two hits in the contest. Tyler Hill scored two runs and Kyle Martin drove in a pair.

Simpson Leads Railroaders to Victory
Chase Simpson homered and drove in three runs as the Cleburne Railroaders defeated the Houston Apollos, 9-5. Simpson hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning to give his team the lead. Houston would pull within two runs in the eighth, but Cleburne responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, led by Alay Lago with a two-run single. Ramon Hernandez had three hits, as did Lago and Simpson.
Hudson Bilodeau hit a two-run homer for Houston and drove in three runs in the contest. Ian Yetsko and Brian Dansereau each had two hits and scored a run.

McCullough, Matthys Lead Monarchs
Michael McCullough drove home both runs with a two-run triple in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Kansas City Monarchs defeated the Chicago Dogs, 2-1. Chicago had taken a one run lead in the top of the second inning, but Jake Matthys was brilliant from then on, allowing just the one run in six innings. Brock Gilliam earned the victory for Kansas City, tossing two shutout innings, and Justin Donatella came on to close out the game for his first save in the season.
Shane Barringer threw six shutout innings for Chicago, but the bullpen could not hold the lead for him. Cosimo Cannella drove in the long run for the Dogs.

Ryan Flores Hurls RedHawks Past Milkmen
Ryan Flores allowed one run in eight innings to lead the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to a 4-2 victory over the Milwaukee Milkmen. Flores was fantastic, allowing eight hits and a walk while striking out seven. Kevin Krause drove home a pair of runs with a two run homer and Manuel Boscan was a perfect 3-3 with a walk and an RBI. Hayden Seig came on to close out the game for his first save of the season.
Brett Vertigan had a big game for Milwaukee, going 4-4. He scored a run and drove in another.
Explorers Pounce on RailCats
The Sioux City Explorers took a 5-0 lead to innings into the contest, and never looked back on their way to a 12-5 victory. Joseph Monge led the way, going 3-5, including hitting two doubles and adding his second homerun of the season. He scored two runs and drove in four. Chris Clare scored three runs and had two hits.
Zach Welz went 2-4 with two runs scored. Jesus Marriaga was also 2-4, scoring a run and driving in another.

Sioux City Explorers by Connor Ryan
Tols, Cougars Blank Canaries
Josh Tols tossed 7.2 shutout innings, striking out a season-high 12 to lead the Kane County Cougars to a 4-0 victory over the Sioux Falls Canaries. Tols was fantastic, allowing two hits and four walks. Josh Allen provided the big blow, a two-run double in the eighth that extended the Cougars lead to four. Mitch Reeves finished with two hits and scored a run.
Ty Culbreth was the hardluck loser for Sioux Falls, allowing two runs in six innings. Trey Michalczewski had two hits.

Kane County Cougars right-hander Tyler Viza was named as the PURE Performance Pitcher of the Month…Lincoln Saltdogs infielder Josh Altmann was named as the PURE Performance Player of the Month for July…Sioux Falls Canaries IF Wyatt Ulrich saw his consecutive on-base streak end at 51 games. That was five short of the American Association record. Ulrich hit .396 and had a .470 on-base percentage during the streak…Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks OF Jordan George kept his consecutive streak alive, reaching for the 49th straight game…The Kansas City Monarchs ended July with a 24-7 record.
