Game Recaps for Tuesday
Milkmen Spoil Fox Gem
Jack Fox tossed seven shutout innings, as the Kane County Cougars held a one run lead after seven. However, the Milwaukee Milkmen scored three runs in the eighth, earning a 3-1 victory. Fox allowed just two runs in 7.1 innings. Kyle Mora pitched very well for Milwaukee as well, giving up a single run in 7.0 innings. Hansel Rodriguez tossed a scoreless eighth to earn the victory and Nate Hadley earned the save, his sixth of the year.
Kane County took the lead in the top of the first when T.J. Bennett drove home Cesar Trejo. That was the only run through the first seven frames, but Milwaukee rallied in the eighth, putting the first two men on base. Bryan Torres then laid down a sacrifice bunt, and Gabriel Cancel reached on an error, driving home both runs. An RBI single by Cam Balego closed out the scoring.
Torres and Balego each had two hits for the Milkmen. Trejo and J.D. Osborne each had a pair of hits for the Cougars.
Five-Run Fifth Propels DockHounds
The Lake Country DockHounds scored five runs in the fifth inning, erasing a one run deficit in their 7-3 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. That made a victor of Marcus Shawaryn, who allowed three runs in six innings, striking out nine.
Lake Country took the lead, scoring single runs in each of the first two innings. The RedHawks did not let the lead last long, however, scoring three runs in the third, thanks to a three-run homer off the bat of John Silviano, his third of the year. Trailing by a run, the DockHounds rallied in the fifth, scoring five runs off four hits. A wild pitch brought home Demetrius Sims and Aaron Simmons lined a ball to the wall, racing in for a triple. That allowed three runners to score and Simmons came home on an error to give the DockHounds a four run advantage.
The Lake Country bullpen was spectacular. Matt Mullenbach tossed a scoreless seventh and Brady Kais tossed two scoreless frames to finish off the game. Simmons finished with two hits and three RBI and Jaxx Groshans scored twice and had two hits.
Sweeney Homer Lifts Canaries
For the second straight night, Darnell Sweeney delivered the game-winning home run, this time lifting the Sioux Falls Canaries to a 5-4 victory over the Sioux City Explorers. That made a victor of Brady Stover, who tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. Charlie Hasty found himself in trouble, giving up three hits and a run in the ninth, but was able to preserve the victory for his fourth save.
The Explorers took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Vince Fernandez led off with his sixth home run of the season. The Canaries responded with two runs in the top of the fifth. Wyatt Ulrich drove home a run with a sacrifice fly and Sweeney put his team ahead with an RBI single. Sioux City retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth thanks to back-to-back RBI singles by Chase Harris and Jake Sanford. As they had previously, the Canaries responded right away, scoring three in the top of the seventh. A single by Ulrich tied the score, and Sweeney followed by drilling a 2-1 pitch for a two-run homer, his seventh of the year. Sioux City was able to cut the deficit to one, as Daniel Perez drove home Matt Lloyd, but Hasty struck out Jake Ortega to end the contest.
Sweeney finished 2-4 with a run and three RBI. Osvaldo Martinez was a perfect 3-3 with two runs scored and Ulrich was 2-3 with a run and an RBI. Fernandez had two hits for Sioux City.

Samson Homer Propels Saltdogs
Nate Samson drilled a three-run homer in the top of the 10th inning to lead the Lincoln Saltdogs to a 10-7 victory over the Kansas City Monarchs. That helped the team snap a five-game losing streak. Steffon Moore earned the victory and Nic Laio tossed a scoreless 10th for his first save of the year.
Kansas City took the lead in the bottom of the first on the fourth home run of the season by Jacob Robson, a solo shot. That lead held for three innings, but the Saltdogs tied the score in the top of the fifth. The Monarchs immediately responded in the bottom half of the inning, as Robson put his team on top with an RBI triple and he scored on a Jan Hernandez sacrifice fly.
In the sixth, Lincoln rallied for six runs on five hits to take the lead. Nick Anderson hit a two-run triple, and he scored on an RBI single by Yanio Perez. Perez came home on an Aaron Takacs single, and Takacs scored when Drew Devine followed with a two-run homer, his first of the year. Kansas City was down, but responded with single runs in the seventh and eighth innings, and tied the score with two in the ninth, sending this game to extra innings. That is where Samson became the hero, drilling a three-run homer, his second of the year to give Lincoln the victory.
Simpson and Devine each finished with three hits and drove in three. Robson had three hits, scored three times, and drove in two for Kansas City.

Dayson Croes followed with a single, driving home two, and Andy Armstrong then hit into a fielder’s choice, extending the lead to three. That brought Max Murphy to the plate, who crushed a three-run blast, his seventh of the year.
Winnipeg looked like they would dominate, however, Chicago cut the deficit to four, scoring two in the top of the third on a Cody Bohanek two-run single. Brennan Metzger drove home a run in the fourth and Josh Altmann led off the fifth with his ninth home run of the year. That had Chicago within two, but they could get no closer.
