David Holmberg Given PURE Performance Pitcher Honors

The Minor League Sports Report and This Week in the Association announced that Milwaukee Milkmen left-hander David Holmberg has been named the PURE Performance Pitcher of the Week for Week 8 of the 2021 American Association season. Holmberg was outstanding in his last outing, tossing a two-hit shutout.

David Holmberg made just one start during the week and he made the most of it, going the distance in a 6-0 victory over the Cleburne Railroaders on Thursday. The lefty retired the first 14 batters of the game, as Cleburne did not have a batter reach base until Noah Vaughan singled with two down in the fifth. Holmberg allowed a leadoff walk in the sixth and a two-out single in the seventh as the only other blemishes against him in the contest.

The lefty was on top of his game, as 75 of his 109 pitches went for strikes. He struck out eight in the contest. Holmberg finished the contest strong, striking out the side in the eighth.

For earning PURE Performance Pitcher of the Week, David Holmberg will receive a check for $100 from PURE. Holmberg is the second Milwaukee Milkmen player to receive PURE Performance Pitcher of the Week honors this season. Myles Smith earned the honor in Week 4. Adam Brett Walker II has been selected as PURE Performance Player of the Week.
