SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota – Greg Minier allowed one run over seven innings, but Lincoln’s three-game winning streak came to an end in a 1-0 loss to the Sioux Falls Canaries at Sioux Falls Stadium on Thursday night.
Minier took his third loss of the year, allowing the game’s only run when Jabari Henry hit a two-out homer in the 3rd. Ty Culbreth pitched eight scoreless innings for the Canaries before Riley Ferrell struck out back-to-back hitters with the bases loaded in the 9th to earn his fifth save.
Hunter Clanin singled in the 8th inning to extend his on-base streak to 28, and later Garett Delano singled to put two on with two out. With two in scoring position, Skyler Weber struck out to end the inning.
Randy Norris reached on a bunt to lead off the 4th inning and now has hits in 11 straight games, while Justin Byrd went 0-for-3 with a walk and his 11-game hitting streak came to an end.
Wyatt Ulrich went 0-for-4, ending his league-leading 18-game hitting streak.
Lincoln (20-15) fell short of a second straight sweep of the Canaries (11-26), but the ‘Dogs have still won seven of nine games in the season series.
The ‘Dogs finish the road trip 3-3, and now return home to open a seven-game homestand on Friday. First pitch against the Winnipeg Goldeyes is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and pregame coverage will begin at 6:35 on ESPN Lincoln 101.5 FM/1480 AM.
