RailCats Add Seyler, Seven Others to Roster
The RailCats announced seven players will be returning to the team for the 2021 season today.
Right-handed Pitcher, Nick Floyd returns to the RailCats for the 2021 season. The Ball State University Graduate appeared in 12 games for the RailCats during the 2019 season. In 2019 Floyd pitched 23.2 innings, giving up 30 hits, 14 runs and a 4.94 ERA.
Tommy McCarthy returns to the RailCats for his second season. The infielder spent the 2019 season with the club and appeared in 6 games with 21 plate appearances. In 2019 McCarthy slashed .286/.450/.286.
Catcher, Jackson Smith joins the RailCats from Corban College. Smith appeared in three games for the RailCats in 2019 with 10 plate appearances, two hits, one double and one RBI. The catcher slashed .250/.400/.375.
David Griffin returns to the RailCats for his second season with the club. The right-handed pitcher threw in 12 games in 2019 for 27.2 innings. Griffin finished the season with a 3.58 ERA.
Outfielder Ray Jones returns to Gary after a strong 2019 season. Jones appeared in 65 games with 209 at bats. Throughout the season he had 45 hits, 28 RBI’s, three home runs and a .215 batting average.
Jack Alkire joins the RailCats from Richmond, Virginia. The right-handed pitcher spent the 2019 with the ‘Cats and threw in 22 games. With 34 innings pitched and 44 strike outs, Alkire finished the season with a 3.70 ERA.
Left-handed pitcher Kevin Escorcia joins the RailCats from the Winston-Salem Dash. The left-hander from Colombia finished the 2019 season appearing in 29 games with two wins and two losses. Escorcia tallied 35.1 innings pitched, 37 strike outs and a 4.33 ERA.
Mark Seyler joins the RailCats from the Sioux Falls Canaries. The right-hander graduated from San Diego State University and was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 19th round of the 2015 MLB draft. In 2019 Seyler threw in 23 games with 100.2 innings pitched and 55 strike outs.
