Sioux City Explorers Left-Hander Patrick Ledet Named Pitcher of the Week
On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Sioux City Explorers left-hander Patrick Ledet as the American Association Pitcher of the Week for Week 5. Ledet was fantastic in his one start, allowing a single earned run in 7.0 innings against the Kansas City Monarchs.
Ledet made his one start during the week on June 16, outdueling Matt Hartman in a 2-1 victory for the Explorers. The lefty was fantastic in the start, giving up just one hit through the first four frames. In the fifth, Kansas City broke through for a run when Pete Kozma led off with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by Joel Booker.
However, it was all Ledet from there. He retired eight of the final 10 batters he faced, allowing three hits and three walks overall while striking out nine. The nine strikeouts were a season-high.
Patrick Ledet is in his second season with Sioux City. Last year he finished 9-6 in 19 starts, posting a 6.70 ERA. However, this season he has been devastating, going 2-0 through his first six starts with a 2.50 ERA. This is the sixth season in independent ball for the lefty, as he has a 26-23 record with a 4.07 ERA.
