Logan Landon Given PURE Performance Player Honors

The Minor League Sports Report and This Week in the Association announced that Sioux Falls Canaries outfielder Logan Landon has been named the PURE Performance Player of the Week for Week 5. Landon put together an impressive week, hitting .458 with four home runs and 11 RBI.

Landon started the week with an outstanding performance against the Milwaukee Milkmen, going 8-14 in the series with four runs scored, two doubles, three home runs, and eight RBI. He opened the week on Tuesday going 2-4 with a double and an RBI. Each of the next two nights he went 3-5, hitting two homeruns and driving in four runs on Wednesday, then homering and driving in three on Thursday.

On Friday, Sioux Falls took on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, where Landon went 3-10 with three runs scored, a homer, and three RBI. He opened the series on Friday with a 2-6 performance, scoring two runs and driving in two. He also hit a homerun for the third straight game. On Saturday, the Canaries outfielder went 1-4 with a run scored and a run driven in. He also drew a walk in the contest.

The performance was so impressive that Landon had his contract transferred to the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, the 60th American Association player to have their contract transferred this year.

For the week, Logan Landon went 11-24 with seven runs scored, and 11 runs driven in. He doubled twice, homered four times, drew a walk, and was hit by a pitch. Landon posted a 1.542 OPS, tops in the American Association last week, and a 1.04 to slugging percentage, also tops in the league. He had hits and all five games, giving him a six-game hitting streak.

For earning PURE Performance Player of the Week, Logan Landon will receive a check for $100 from PURE. Landon becomes the second Canaries player to earn Player of the Week honors. Nick Gotta won the award last week.
