Sioux Falls Canaries OF Jabari Henry Named American Association Player of the Week

In today’s edition, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report name Sioux Falls Canaries outfielder Jabari Henry as American Association Player of the Week for Week 11 of the 2023 season.
Canaries OF Jabari Henry Named Player of the Week
On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Sioux Falls Canaries outfielder Jabari Henry as the Player of the Week for Week 11 of the 2023 American Association season. Despite the abbreviated week due to the All-Star game, Henry was still impressive, hitting .636 with eight runs scored in three games.
The three contests were against the Lake Country DockHounds where Henry was a combined 7-11. He reached base in all five of his appearances on Friday and four of the five appearances on Saturday. In the opener, the outfielder went 3-3 with three runs scored and two walks. He followed that up with a 4-5 performance, scoring four runs and hitting a solo home run. Henry went 0-3 with a walk and a run scored on Sunday.
Henry posted an impressive .714 on-base percentage in 14 plate appearances. He also had a .909 slugging percentage, combining for a 1.623 OPS. The outfielder is hitting .264 with 12 home runs, 49 runs scored, and 46 RBI in 60 games.
Jabari Henry was selected in the 18th round of the 2012 draft by the Seattle Mariners. He spent four seasons in the Mariners organization, reaching AA-Jackson, then joined the Los Angeles Angels organization where he played at AA-Arkansas in 2016. In five total seasons in the minor leagues, Henry hit .244 with 74 home runs and 283 RBI in 468 games. In 2017 the outfielder joined the Sioux Falls Canaries and he has spent six of his seven seasons in independent baseball with Sioux Falls. Henry hit .268 with 116 home runs and 380 RBI in 497 independent games. That included hitting 29 home runs for Sioux Falls in both 2017 and 2022. Henry has hit at least 20 homers four times in his career, including hitting 30 for High Desert (High-A) in 2014.
Jabari Henry is the second Sioux Falls Canaries player selected as Player of the Week. Shortstop Jordan Barth earned the honors in Week 8.
