Canaries OF Jordan Barth Named Player of the Week

On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Sioux Falls Canaries outfielder Jordan Barth as the Player of the Week for Week 8 of the 2023 American Association season. Barth hit .500 during the week with four runs scored, six doubles, and four RBI.

Sioux Falls began the week with a three-game series in Sioux City against the Explorers. Barth was outstanding during the set, recording at least two hits in all three contests, going a combined 8-14 with two runs scored and three RBI. He began the series with a 2-4 performance, recording his first double of the week. Barth then went 3-5 in each of the final two contests, driving in two in the second game of the series and adding an RBI in the third. He scored a run in each of those two contests.

Next, Sioux Falls traveled to Chicago to take on the Dogs. Barth had at least one hit in all three games, extending his hitting streak to 11 straight contests. He went 1-4 in the first game, recording a double. In the second game he was 2-5, doubling twice, and went 3-5 in the final game of the series, adding his sixth double of the week. He was a combined 6-14 with two runs, four doubles, and an RBI against the Dogs.

Overall, Sioux Falls went 3-3 during the week. Barth was 14-28, the top batting average in the American Association. He finished tied for fourth in on-base percentage (.500) and posted a .714 slugging percentage.

Jordan Barth began his professional career in 2022 when he signed with Billings (Pioneer League), hitting .288 in 77 contests. He scored 39 runs and drove in 31. This season is his first in the American Association, and he has been quite impressive. The outfielder is hitting .312 in 46 games, scoring 22 runs and driving in 33. He spent five seasons at Augustana during his college career, hitting a combined .379 with 219 RBI in 222 games.
