Canaries RHP Seth Miller Named Pitcher of the Week

On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Sioux Falls Canaries right-hander Seth Miller as the Pitcher of the Week for Week 15 of the 2023 American Association season. Miller was dominating in his one start of the week, tossing a three-hit shutout against the Sioux City Explorers.

The start came on August 18 at home against the Explorers. Sioux Falls gave their starter a four-run lead through the first two innings, and he took control from there. Miller allowed three hits and two walks, while striking out six. The right-hander gave up singles in the second, fourth, and fifth innings. The only time he found himself in any trouble was in the fifth when he gave up a two-out walk before giving up a single. However, he recorded a ground out to end the threat. The right-hander retired the final 13 batters of the game.

The Explorers did not record an extra-base hit in the contest. Miller threw 117 pitches, 75 of which were strikes.

Seth Miller is in his first professional season after graduating from Augustana (South Dakota). The right-hander posted a 24-7 record in college with a 3.04 ERA in 37 starts and 14 relief appearances. This season he is 3-3 with a 4.19 ERA, making seven starts and six relief appearances.

Miller is the third Canaries pitcher to earn Pitcher of the Week honors. Akeem Bostick was the recipient in Week 1 and Mitchell Walters earned the honors last week.
