Canaries RHP Seth Miller Named Pitcher of the Week

On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Sioux Falls Canaries right-hander Seth Miller as the Pitcher of the Week for Week 7 of the 2024 season. Miller had a great week, winning both of his starts while posting a 0.69 ERA.

The first start for Miller came on June 25 in a 3-2 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs. The right-hander was in command from the start, tossing seven shutout innings, allowing five hits and a walk, while striking out three. The righty allowed more than one hit in only one inning, the seventh, throwing 94 pitches, 58 for strikes.

On Saturday, he was nearly as dominant, allowing one run in six innings. Miller allowed eight hits and a walk while striking out four. The right-hander held Kane County off the scoreboard through the first three innings, then gave up a single run in the fourth. Miller flirted with disaster on a few occasions, but held Kane County to the loan run.

For the week, Seth Miller allowed 13 hits and two walks in 13.0 innings pitched. He struck out six with a 0.69 ERA. He had a 1.15 WHIP.

Seth Miller was signed as an unrestricted free agent by the Canaries in 2023 and went 3-3 with a 5.03 ERA. He made eight starts and six relief appearances last season. This season he has been spectacular, going 5-0 with a 3.09 ERA in eight starts. He has allowed 45 hits and 17 walks in 46.2 innings pitched.

Miller is the third Canaries pitcher to receive Pitcher of the Week honors. Ryan Zimmerman earned the honor in Week 1 and Ty Culbreth did so a week later.
