TJ Bennett Impresses in Debut, Leading Saltdogs to 11-4 VictoryWhen TJ Bennett became available, there were a number of teams seeking his services, but it would be the Lincoln Saltdogs who would sign the outfielder. What a great move that proved to be, as Bennett homered, one of three that Lincoln would hit on the evening, and drove in three runs in his debut as the Saltdogs downed the Wichita Wingnuts, 11-4. Lincoln rapped out 15 hits, and Kyle Kinman earned the victory with six outstanding innings.

Both teams would get a run in the opening frame. In the top of the first, Randolph Oduber led off with a double d Image and you just for can show me what the hell’s year and he would score on a two-out single by Brandon Jacobs.

Wichita came right back in the bottom half the inning. Zach Nehrir lined a ball down the left field line for a double then stole third before scoring on a base hit by Abel Nieves.

The game stayed tied until the fourth when Lincoln would take a commanding lead. Curt Smith doubled with one out and moved to third when Jacobs reached on an infield single. That brought Cesar Valera to the plate. He doubled down the line in left field, bringing around both runners, and would later score on a single by Chase Simpson to extend the Saltdogs lead to 4-1.

Kyle Kinman: W (3-1), 6-IP, 6-H, ER, 3-K

An inning later, the Lincoln Saltdogs would blow this game open. Angel Reyes doubled with one out and scored when Bennett followed with a double. That brought Smith to the plate, who clubbed a two run homer, his 11th of the season, to extend the lead to six. Jacobs followed with his 11th homerun of the year and Dashenko Ricardo would add an RBI single later in the frame to make it 9-1.

Lincoln would add two more runs in the top of the sixth. With one down, Reyes reached on a single and Bennett followed with his first home run of the year. That extended the lead to 10.

Wichita would add three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Hunter Clanin reached on an error before Logan Watkins was hit by pitch. That brought Nehrir to the plate, who drilled his fifth homerun of the season over the wall in left-center to change the score to 11-4. However, Wichita would get no closer.

Kyle Kinman (3-1) gave up the first-inning run and then was absolutely brilliant for Lincoln. He would allow 6-hits and a run, striking out 3 in earning the victory.

TJ Bennett finished 2-5 with 2-runs scored and 3-RBI in his debut. Brandon Jacobs and Curt Smith both had 3-hits, 2-runs scored, and 2-RBI for the Saltdogs. Zach Nehrir led the Wichita fence, going, 3-4 with 2-runs and 3-RBI.

The Wichita Wingnuts will look to snap their four-game losing streak on Wednesday. Wichita sends Charlie Gillies (3-1, 3.42) to the mound to face Tyler Herron (4-4, 6.87) on 4 July. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05.
