In today’s edition of American Association Daily, Ryan Zimmerman sets a career high for strikeouts in the Saints 3-2 victory and Taylor Dorminy tosses seven outstanding innings to lead Chicago to a series victory.
Early Runs Propel Goldeyes to Victory, 8-2
The Winnipeg Goldeyes scored runs in each of the first three innings, helping them to jump out to a four-run lead and then watched Kevin Hilton cruise as they defeated the Sioux Falls Canaries, 8-2. Darnell Sweeney hit his first homerun of the season to put Winnipeg on top just two batters into the game. John Nester drove in a run in the third, one of three RBI on the day.
Hilton (2-0) earned his second victory of the season, going five innings, allowing eight hits, a walk, and two earned runs. The Goldeyes bullpen did the rest, tossing four one-hit innings.

Zimmerman Leads Saints to Victory, 3-2
Ryan Zimmerman set a single game high for strikeouts, fanning nine, as the St. Paul Saints edged the Milwaukee Milkmen, 3-2, avoiding the sweep. Zimmerman allowed just four hits, a walk and a run in winning his first game of the season. Amazingly, the right-hander did not strikeout any batters through the first two innings, then struck out two in each of the next two frames. He fanned the side in the seventh, his final inning of work.
Both teams scored two runs in the first inning. The game remained tied until the top of the eighth when the Saints loaded the bases with two down. Justin Byrd brought home the winning run with a single that scored Troy Alexander.

Dorminy Dominates RedHawks to Lead Dogs to Victory
Taylor Dorminy allowed a run in seven outstanding innings to lead the Chicago Dogs to an 8-3 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. Dorminy allowed only four hits and a walk while striking out four in earning his first win of the season.
Joey Terdoslavich led the offense with four hits, including his second homer of the year. Tyler Ladendorf had three hits and drove in three for Chicago. Correlle Prime had two hits and three RBI for Fargo-Moorhead.
Daily Notes
The RedHawks Correlle Prime extended his hitting streak to nine games with a pair of hits on Sunday…The Canaries bullpen struggled to hold leads last season, but that has not been an issue this year. Sioux Falls is 5-0 when leading after six.
