Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks Right-Hander Alex DuBord Named Pitcher of the Week
On Monday, This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report named Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks closer Alex DuBord as the Pitcher of the Week for Week 1 of the 2022 American Association season. DuBord appeared in five games, saving four RedHawks victories while not allowing a run.
The right-hander made his debut on the first day of the season, pitching in the eighth inning of a 10-9 victory over the Winnipeg Goldeyes. DuBord struck out two, setting down the side in order. He closed out the final game of the series, a 9-7 victory over Winnipeg. DuBord went 2.0 innings, allowing one hit while striking out one to earn his first save of the season.
The club then moved on to Kansas City, where the right-hander earned the save in a 2-1 victory over the Monarchs on May 18. DuBord retired all three batters he faced, facing the minimum number of batters through his first four innings of the season.
The Fargo-Moorhead closer saved back-to-back games on May 21-22 against Cleburne. On May 21, he faced four batters, giving up one hit while striking out the side to earn his third save of the season, preserving an 8-6 victory over the Railroaders. The next evening, he finished off a 2-0 shutout of Cleburne, yielding a hit and a walk, while striking out one.
In five games, Alex DuBord pitched 6.0 innings, allowing three hits and one walk. He struck out eight. His four saves lead the American Association. The closer has a 0.67 WHIP and a .150 opponent batting average.
DuBord returned to Fargo after posting impressive numbers in 2021 with the team. In 37 games, the right-hander tossed 52.0 innings, allowing 44 hits and 27 walks while striking out 59. He was 3-1 with 11 saves.
