Carrizales Walk-Off Homer Completes Sweep, 7-4
The Kansas City T-Bones completed the four-game sweep of the Lincoln Saltdogs, thanks to a three run homer off the bat of Omar Carrizales in the bottom of the 11th inning, giving Kansas City the 7-4 victory. A single and a walk put two on with one down, bringing Carrizales to the plate. The centerfielder fell behind 1-2 before fouling off three pitches to stay alive. He then clubbed the seventh pitch of the at bat for his first homerun of the season.
Explorers Complete Sweep of Railroaders, 7-4
Pete Tago allowed to run and struck out 11 in six innings as the Sioux City Explorers completed their three-game sweep of the Cleburne Railroaders, 7-4. Kyle Wren had four hits and drove in two runs for Sioux City. Ryan Brett drove in a pair for Cleburne. The victory moved the Explorers 1.5 games behind the Railroaders for the South Division lead.
Dogs Down Goldeyes, 6-1
Luke Westphal returned for the Chicago Dogs, allowing a run in four innings as Chicago defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 6-1. Trey Vavra had three hits and scored three runs and Edwin Arroyo had three hits and drove in a pair. Luke Wilkins earned the victory with three shutout innings of relief.
Santiesteban Walk-Off Hit Gives RailCats Win, 3-2
After the tying run thrown out at the plate to end the game on Thursday night, the Gary Southshore RailCats would not be denied on Friday, as Randy Santiesteban drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth-inning to defeat the St. Paul Saints, 3-2. Santiesteban finished with four hits and two RBI. Sandy Lugo earned the victory with a perfect inning of relief.
RedHawks Win Series Rubber Match, 3-1
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks defeated the Milwaukee Milkmen on Friday night, 3-1. Ryan Williams (8-1) was dominant, blanking Milwaukee for eight innings to earn the victory. Chris Jacobs walked in all three runs for Fargo.
Canaries Hang on, Defeat AirHogs, 6-4
The Sioux Falls Canaries defeated the Texas AirHogs in the rubber match of their series, 6-4. With the score tied at one, Sioux Falls scored three in the fifth and two in the sixth to take command of the game. Clint Coulter hit his 17th homer of the season and drove in two runs. Alex Boshers earned the victory, striking out 10 in seven innings for his sixth win of the season.
American Association Notes
The St. Paul Saints saw their nine-game road winning streak end on Friday night. The nine-game winning streak of the team also concluded. The Sioux City Explorers have the longest winning streak in the league at five straight game…Kansas City T-Bones outfielder Christopher Colabello extended his hitting streak to 17 games, the fifth longest streak in the American Association season. The Kansas City T-Bones have won 12 straight games at home, tied for the longest home winning streak in the league this season.
