In this edition of American Association Daily, Robert Pannier examines the highlights, transactions and news from the American Association for August 29, 2019. There were six games played on Thursday, including the St. Paul defeating the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to move into a first place tie in the North Division and all three teams in the playoff battle in the South all winning.

Martinez Drives in Six to Lead Saints, 12-9
Jeremy Martinez drove in six runs with a pair of homeruns as the St. Paul Saints defeated the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, 12-9. A pair of five-run innings did the damage, as St. Paul rallied from an 8-2 deficit with five in the sixth and five in the seventh. Martinez homered in both of those frames.
Explorers Dominate Canaries
Sam Held allowed one run in five innings and the bullpen did the rest, as the Sioux City Explorers defeated the Sioux Falls Canaries, 8-1. José Sermo hit his 13th homer of the season and drove in three, and both Nate Samson and Drew Stankiewicz each drove in a pair for Sioux City. The victory kept the Explorers tied for first in the South Division.
Idrogo, Bullpen Blanks Saltdogs, 2-0
Eudis Idrogo tossed six shutout innings to lead the Cleburne Railroaders to a 2-0 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs. Three relievers helped to complete the shutout. John Nester drove in both runs for Cleburne. The Railroaders remained in a first place tie with the win.
House Rules for T-Bones, 3-2
T.J. House allowed one earned run in 5.2 innings as the Kansas City T-Bones kept pace with a 3-2 victory over the Texas AirHogs. Daniel Nava had three hits and drove in a run and Mason Davis and Dylan Tice each had two hits and an RBI. Kansas City remains a game back of Sioux City and Cleburne in the South.
Snelten Leads Dogs, 4-1
D.J. Snelten allowed one run in eight innings as the Chicago Dogs kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 4-1 victory over the Milwaukee Milkmen. Snelten allowed six hits while striking out eight for the victory. Jordan Dean hit his 14th homer of the season and drove in a pair of runs for Chicago.
McGovern Blanks RailCats, 2-0
Kevin McGovern tossed eight shutout innings as the Winnipeg Goldeyes defeated the Gary Southshore RailCats, 2-0. McGovern allowed four hits and no walks while striking out six for his 12th victory of the season. Dominic Ficociello drove in a pair of runs with his 10th homer of the year.
American Association Notes
The St. Paul Saints reduced their magic number for clinching a playoff spot to one. A Saints win or a Chicago Dogs will lock them into the final playoff berth in the North…The Sioux City Explorers head to Kansas City to take on the T-Bones in a four game series starting on Friday.
