Saints Complete Sweep of RedHawks, 10-3
Jake Matthys tossed six solid innings as the St. Paul Saints swept the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, 10-3. Matthys allowed six hits and two earned runs in winning his seventh game of the year. Brady Shoemaker walked four times and Chris Baker homered and drove in three to help lead the offense.
Explorers Sweep Canaries, 7-5
A five run eighth inning erased a 5-2 deficit as the Sioux City Explorers went on to defeat the Sioux Falls Canaries, 7-5, sweeping their four game series. Five different players drove in runs in the decisive frame. Matt Probereyko came on to record his third save of the series and 16th of the season.
Six Run Eighth Propels AirHogs, 7-4
The Texas AirHogs completed their sweep of the Lincoln Saltdogs, thanks to a six run eighth inning that gave the team the 7-4 victory. Javion Randle had two hits and drove in two. Tyler Matzek loaded the bases in the ninth, but struck out the side to record the save.
Arroyo, Vavra Lead Dogs Offense, 11-7
The Chicago Dogs downed the Gary Southshore RailCats, 11-7, completing the sweep of their four game series. Edwin Arroyo and Trey Vavra each had four hits and drove in two runs. Rich Mascheri earned the victory with 1.1 innings of shutout relief.
Martin Homers Twice to Lead Goldeyes, 5-4
The Winnipeg Goldeyes won the rubber match of their series with the Kansas City T-Bones, as Kyle Martin homered twice and drove in all five runs in the 5-4 victory. Martin drove home a run with an RBI single in the first, then added two run homers in the third and fifth inning. Wes Darvill scored twice for Winnipeg.
Milkmen Power Their Way to Victory, 9-3
The Milwaukee Milkmen blasted three homers to aid the team in their 9-3 victory. Adam Walker, Manuel Boscan, and Jose Rosario each went deep for Milwaukee. Jordan Kraus earned his third straight win, allowing two runs in seven innings.
American Association Notes
St. Paul Saints Manager George Tsamis won his 900th game as the manager of the team. Tsamis reached his 1000th victory as a manager last season…Four series ended in sweeps this past weekend…The Texas AirHogs won their fourth straight game on Sunday. That is the longest winning streak since the team won four in a row on August 28-31, 2017…The Cleburne Railroaders saw their six game winning streak snapped on Sunday…The Lincoln Saltdogs losing streak extended to eight…Dogs outfielder David Olmedo-Barrera extended his hitting streak to 21 games, tied for the longest streak in the league this season.
