Smith Drives in Five, Saltdogs Win 9-2
Curt Smith tied a franchise record, driving in five to lead the Lincoln Saltdogs to a 9-2 victory over the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Smith scored three runs and hit his eighth homer of the year. Shairon Martis allowed one hit and one earned run in six innings to earn the victory.
Lago Homers Twice, Canaries Win 12-1
Alay Lago homered twice and drove in four to lead the Sioux Falls Canaries to a 12-1 victory over the Texas AirHogs. Lago had three hits and scored three runs. Taylor Hill earned the victory with six shutout innings. Javion Randle had three hits for Texas.
Westphal, Bullpen Blank RailCats, 10-0
Luke Westphal allowed three hits in six innings for his seventh win of the season, as the Chicago Dogs defeated the Gary Southshore RailCats, 10-0. Westphal struck out nine. Keon Barnum and Gustavo Pierre each drove in three runs.
Robertson Drives in Five, Railroaders Win, 9-1
Daniel Robertson drove in five as the Cleburne Railroaders defeated the Milwaukee Milkmen, 9-1. Robertson hit his fourth homer of the year, and Chase Simpson added his 13th for the Railroaders. Eudis Idrogo (3-3) was brilliant, allowing one run on six hits in seven innings to earn the victory.
Silviano, Saints Down T-Bones, 10-5
John Silviano drove in four as the St. Paul Saints defeated the Kansas City T-Bones in a rematch of last year’s championship series, 10-5. The Saints scored five runs in the first inning, three of which came on a homer by Silviano. Devon Rodriguez also homered in the frame. Jake Matthys earned the victory with five solid innings. Taylor Sparks hit a grand slam for Kansas City.
Explorers-RedHawks PPD
Rain caused the contest between the Sioux City Explorers and the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to be postponed. The contest will be made up as part of a double-header on Wednesday.
American Association Notes
The Saltdogs Josh Mazzola became the fifth player in American Association history to record 700 hits. Goldeyes outfielder Reggie Abercrombie is the all-time leader in hits…The Canaries Alay Lago extended his home hitting streak to 26 games.
