Walker Homers Deliver Milkmen Victory
The Milwaukee Milkmen found themselves trailing 3-0 heading into the bottom of the second, then scored eight unanswered runs, including four in the third on their way to an 8-3 victory over the Sioux Falls Canaries. Adam Walker homered twice and drove in four runs for Milwaukee. T.J. Houses posted the longest outing in the young franchise’s history, going eight innings to move to 4-0.
Stankiewicz Walk-Off Hit Sends Explorers Home Happy
The Sioux City Explorers pitching staff dominated the Lincoln Saltdogs on Monday night, striking out 20, but it would be a walk off hit by Drew Stankiewicz that would finally give the team their win. Tied at one entering the 12th, Nate Samson led off with a single, moved to second on a one out walk and scored when Stankiewicz singled into left field. That helped the Explorers win the nearly four hour contest.
Hilton Muzzles Dogs, AirHogs Win
The Chicago Dogs were held scoreless for seven innings on Monday night, but would battle back with three runs in the eighth. However, they could not complete the comeback, falling to the Texas AirHogs, 5-3. Kevin Hilton (2-2) tossed seven outstanding innings, allowing 4 hits and one unearned run. Chen Junpeng had 2 hits, homered, and scored 3 runs for Texas.
American Association Notes
The Minor League Sports Report and This Week in the Association named Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks outfielder Tim Colwell Player of the Week and Sioux City Explorers RHP Taylor Jordan as the Pitcher of the Week. The American Association also chose Colwell, but named Chicago Dogs LHP Luke Westphal the Pitcher of the Week…The Lincoln Saltdogs struck out 20 times on Monday night in the extra innings loss. That is a team record.
