Jordan Blanks Railroaders
Sioux City starter Taylor Jordan tossed seven shutout innings on Sunday in a 4-0 shutout of the Cleburne Railroaders. Jose Velez came on in the eighth and tossed a scoreless frame to complete the shutout as rain came, wiping out the ninth. Kyle Wren had 2 RBI for Sioux City.
Binder Stymies AirHogs
The Kansas City T-Bones earned a 7-1 victory over the Texas AirHogs in the first game of their double-header, thanks to six outstanding innings by Christian Binder. The K.C. starter allowed no runs in his six innings of work. Both Shawn O’Malley and Christian Correa drove in two runs apiece. The second game was rained out.
Saltdogs Pound Canaries, 12-1
A night after seeing the Sioux Falls Canaries score six runs in the ninth to win 7-5, the Lincoln Saltdogs left no doubt, crushing the Canaries, 12-1. Daniel Herrera homered twice and drove in five runs to lead the Saltdogs, Sharon Martis (1-2) allowed one run in five innings to earn his first victory of the season.
Westphal, Dogs Down RedHawks
Luke Westphal (5-0) allowed two runs in five innings to remain undefeated as the Chicago Dogs defeated the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, 5-4. Edwin Arroyo and Rey Gonzalez each drove in two runs for the Dogs. Kyle Halbohn earned his second save of the season.
Saints Rally to Down RailCats, 4-2
The St. Paul Saints scored two runs in the seventh and eighth innings to propel them to a 4-2 victory over the Gary Southshore RailCats. Devon Rodriguez drove in two runs and Dan Motl had three hits to lead the St. Paul offense. Jordan Jess earned the win and Todd Van Steensel earned his eighth save of the season.
