Murphy Homers Twice, Saints Win
Max Murphy homered twice, scored four runs and drove in four as the St. Paul Saints defeated the Sioux Falls Canaries, 14-3. An eight run ninth inning blew the game open. Murphy doubled and homered in the frame. Jake Matthys (4-1) earned the win.
Bennett, Prime Homers Power RedHawks
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks downed the Gary Southshore RailCats 4-3, thanks to homers by T.J. Bennett and Correlle Prime. Gary had taken a 3-2 lead with two runs in the top of eighth, but Bennett answered with a two-run shot in the bottom of the frame to put the RedHawks back on top. Geoff Broussard closed out the game for his seventh save of the season.
Explorers, T-Bones Split Double-Header
Late rallies were the story in Kansas City, as the T-Bones and Explorers split a double-header. In Game 1, Kansas City scored six runs in the bottom of the first to take a 6-1 lead. However, Sioux City battled back with a run in the second and three in the third. A two-run double by Sebastian Zawada gave the Explorers the lead as they would prevail, 7-6.
In Game 2, the Explorers jumped out a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but the T-Bones tied it with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth. Dylan Tice delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to give Kansas City the 4-3 victory. Jonathan Perrin earned the victory, going the distance.
Dogs Down Goldeyes, 8-3
The Chicago Dogs scored two runs in the seventh and four in the eighth to pull away from the Winnipeg Goldeyes, winning 8-3. Kelly Dugan scored two runs and added two RBI. Austin Wright (1-4) earned his first victory of the season, allowing one unearned run in five innings.
Milkmen Slip Past Saltdogs, 4-2
A pair of runs in the fourth and fifth helped the Milwaukee Milkmen slip past the Lincoln Saltdogs, 4-2. Garrett Copeland hit his first homerun of the season and drove in two runs for Milwaukee. Jordan Kraus earned the victory in his first start of the season.
The contest between the Texas AirHogs and the Cleburne Railroaders was suspended due to rain. The AirHogs were leading 7-5. The contest will be continued before Thursday’s regularly scheduled contest.
American Association Notes
The Sioux City Explorers won the first game of their double-header with Kansas City, extending their winning streak to seven, but fell in the second game…The Explorers reacquired RHP Ryan Flores. Flores was sent to Sioux Falls to complete a deal from last season. He struggled for the Canaries and was dealt to the Can-Am League, but Manager Steve Montgomery reacquired his reliever on Wednesday.
Kansas City T-Bones
Released INF Caleb Dean; signed RHP Kenny Koplove and INF Taylor Sparks; activated OF Forrestt Allday from the Disabled List and placed RHP Tommy Collier on the Disabled List retroactive to June 15
Sioux City Explorers
Acquired RHP Ryan Flores from Trois-Rivieres (Can-Am League) to complete an earlier trade and signed RHP Ryan Flores
Sioux Falls Canaries
Released RHP Grady Wood
Placed INF Adrian Marin on the Inactive List
