Jordan Gem Blanks Canaries
The Sioux City Explorers shut out the Sioux Falls Canaries thanks to a three-hit gem from starter Taylor Jordan. Jordan finished four over the minimum, throwing 102 pitches in the complete game shutout. Four different players drove in a run for Sioux City.
Prime Powers RedHawks over Dogs
Correlle Prime continues his torrid run, hitting his seventh homerun of the season and driving in five as the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks defeated the Chicago Dogs, 8-6. Fargo-Moorhead led 3-1 heading into the top of the sixth when the Dogs would score three. David Olmedo-Barrera drove home two with his second home run of the season. The RedHawks responded with three in the bottom half of the inning. The big blow was a two run double off the bat of Prime.
The Dogs would come back to tie the score in the top the seventh. The third hit of the game by Olmedo-Barrera tied the score at six but, as in the previous inning, the RedHawks responded with an equal number of runs in the bottom half of the frame. Leobaldo Pina put Fargo back on top for good with an RBI single and Prime plated the final run of the game with a fielder’s choice.
Geoff Broussard earned his eighth save of the season. Olmedo-Barrera had three hits and three RBI for Chicago.
Ibarra Leads Saltdogs to Victory
The Lincoln Saltdogs downed at the Texas AirHogs on Friday, 4-2. Christian Ibarra had three hits and drove home two to lead the Lincoln offense. Ricky Knapp (3-1) earned the victory with six solid innings, allowing a lone run. Stewart Ijames had four hits and drove home two for Texas.
Late Error Helps Saints Prevail
Lars Liguori and Spenser Jones each tossed seven outstanding innings for their team, but a costly error would give the St. Paul Saints a 2-1 victory over the Gary Southshore RailCats on Friday. With a runner at third and two down, Blake Schmit’s drive to right field was misplayed, allowing Max Murphy to score the winning run. Jordan Jess (2-0) earned the victory with 1.1 innings of shutout relief.
Goldeyes Late Rally Downs Milkmen, 4-3
The Winnipeg Goldeyes scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to earn a 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Milkmen. Reggie Abercrombie tied the score with an RBI single and the winning run came home on a sacrifice fly by Kyle Martin. Victor Capellan earned his ninth save of the season.
Morales Walk-Off Single Sends T-Bones to Victory
The Cleburne Railroaders erased a 7-1 deficit with four runs in the seventh, a run in the eighth, and three runs in the ninth to tie the score at nine. However, the Kansas City T-Bones would win it on an RBI single by Roy Morales in the bottom of the ninth to earn the 10-9 victory. Every player in the starting lineup for Kansas City had a hit. Dylan Tice scored four runs. Chase Simpson had three RBI for Cleburne.
American Association Notes
The St. Paul Saints Dan Motl saw his 10 game hitting streak come to an end when he went 0-4 against the RailCats on Friday. Teammate Max Murphy went 2-4, extending his hit streak to five games (15-27). Murphy has at least two hits in each of those contests…Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks Correlle Prime extended his hitting streak to five games. Prime has driven in 11 runs in his last five games and has scored a run in seven straight games…The RedHawks have won four straight games, moving them into third in the North Division…The RailCats have lost five straight.
