Andre Emmett Leaves Fort Wayne Mad Ants
Andre Emmett, one of the NBA D-League’s most outstanding scorers this season, has decided to leave the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. Emmett has garnered interest overseas and by some NBA franchises. A team in the Philippines has reportedly offered him a very lucrative contract, but his agent says he might wait for another opportunity in the NBA, possibly starting off with a 10-day contract.
More recently, with injuries to star players like Blake Griffith, the Los Angeles Clippers have strongly considered signing Andre Emmett. It could be a smart move for a team that needs depth and scoring off of the bench. He also gives the Clippers another veteran in the locker room, along with Nate Robinson, who was acquired via 10-day contract last week. Emmett has had two stints in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies and Brooklyn Nets since being drafted in the second round in 2004.
Before leaving the Fort Wayne Mad Ants this season, he was a leading candidate for the D-League MVP, averaging 23 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
