JACKSON, TN – The Winnipeg Goldeyes (22-25) lost 3-2 in 12 innings to the Gary SouthShore RailCats at US Steel Yard on Sunday afternoon.

Daniel Lingua scored the go-ahead run on a two-out, dropped third strike in the top of the 12^th.  RailCats’ reliever Tasker Strobel retired the Goldeyes in order in the bottom half to close out the game.  Strobel (1-2) picked up the win, throwing four scoreless innings.

Nate Antone (0-1) took the loss in relief for Winnipeg.

The RailCats (22-27) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on a two-out, RBI single from Jacob Talamante.

Winnipeg tied the game in the bottom of the fifth.  Darren Seferina doubled down the right field line leading off, took third on a groundout from Dakota Conners, and scored on a Jay Gonzalez two-out, infield single.

Jackson Smith hit a solo home run down the right field line with one out in the top of the seventh to put the RailCats in front 2-1.

In the bottom of the eighth, Kevin Lachance bunted for a single with one out.  After Max Murphy walked, Kyle Martin was hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Raul Navarro tied the game with a sacrifice fly to centre.

Goldeyes’ starter Jorge Gonzalez took a no-decision, allowing two earned runs on eight hits over seven innings.  Gonzalez walked none and struck out six.

RailCats’ starter John Sheaks also took a no-decision, pitching two and one-third scoreless innings on three hits.  Sheaks walked none and struck out four in what was his professional debut.

Ken Frosch and Jose Jose each pitched a scoreless inning in relief of Gonzalez.  Travis Seabrooke worked two scoreless frames over the 10^th and 11^th.

Navarro singled in the sixth to extend his hitting streak to 14 games, tying his career-high for a second time this year.  Martin’s career-high hitting streak came to an end at 13 games.

The Goldeyes will continue to monitor the reopening of the Canada/US border and assess a potential return to Shaw Park in 2021.
