Brusa Homer Not Enough for Lake Country

GENEVA, ILL. – The Kane County Cougars defeated the Lake Country DockHounds in game two of the series by a score of 11-4 Saturday evening.
After their 23-5 loss on Friday evening, Lake Country looked to even up the second game of the series.
The scoring would begin in the third inning for the Cougars, as they scored four runs. Steve Lombardozzi plated Galee Cribbs Jr. on a single. Cornelius Randolph knocked in a run with another single, and Sherman Johnson reached on a fielder’s choice for the inning’s third and fourth runs.
Ernie De La Trinidad added to Kane County’s lead with a 2-RBI single in the fourth inning.
A Zion Pettigrew error led the Cougars to score two unearned runs in the fifth. In the sixth, Jimmy Kerrigan was tagged out at second trying to leg out a double but still drove in a run. After the inning, Lake Country trailed 9-0.
The top of the seventh brought the DockHounds their first score when Lamar Briggs knocked in the speedy Pettigrew with a single.
Gio Brusa drove in two runs with his homer, his 10th home run this season. The round-tripper put a spark in the lineup as the ‘Hounds would drive in Snider on a 5-3 putout.
In the ninth frame, Lake Country would go down 1-2-3. Kane County won 11-4.
