Chicago Dogs LHP Jake Dahlberg Named PURE Performance Pitcher of the Month for June

Jake Dahlberg Named PURE Performance Pitcher of the Month.
This Week in the Association and the Minor League Sports Report in partnership with PURE name Chicago Dogs left-hander Jake Dahlberg as the PURE Performance Pitcher of the Month for June. Dahlberg went 3-1 with a 2.91 ERA in eight appearances, five of which were starts.
The left-hander had an impressive month, as six of his eight appearances came against teams who are currently above .500. Dahlberg started the month with a 3.1 inning outing against Winnipeg, allowing two hits and no runs while striking out three. The left-hander was making his first start of the season, and was held to a 51-pitch count, throwing 31 for strikes.
In his second appearance of the month, Dahlberg came out of the bullpen and was outstanding, throwing four scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out five to earn the victory. It was another impressive performance of control for the left-hander, as 46 of his 61 pitches went for strikes.
The Dogs left-hander had his toughest appearance of the month in his next outing, starting against the Sioux City Explorers, where he allowed three earned runs in 3.2 innings. Dahlberg gave up six hits and walked one while striking out five.
The next two appearances were out of the bullpen for the lefty, as he tossed 1.2 innings against Milwaukee on June 13, then came back with a scoreless frame against Fargo on June 16.
The Dogs then moved him permanently into the rotation and he responded, allowing two runs in 5.1 innings in an 8-5 victory over Gary on June 18. Dahlberg earned the victory, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out five.
In his next outing, the left-hander gave up three earned runs in six innings against the King County Cougars. Dahlberg left with the no decision, allowing five hits and a walk while striking out seven.
Dahlberg saved his best performance of the month for the final day, silencing the Milwaukee Milkmen on just two hits in a complete game shutout. The left-hander did not walk a batter while striking out 10. Of his 108 pitches, 77 went for strikes. The left-hander retired the first 12 batters of the game before yielding his first hit, a single to lead off the fifth. He allowed a one-out double in the eighth, the only Milkmen player to reach scoring position. Dahlberg struck out at least one better in all but two innings.
For the month, Jake Dahlberg tossed 34.0 innings, allowing 25 hits and just five walks while striking out 38. He posted a .198 opponent batting average and had a WHIP of 0.88.
For earning the PURE Performance Pitcher of the Month award, Jake Dahlberg will receive a check for $250 from PURE. Dahlberg is the first Chicago Dogs player to receive PURE Performance honors this month
