Chicago Dogs OF Danny Mars Named PURE Performance Player of the Week

In today’s edition, the Minor League Sports Report and This Week in the Association name Chicago Dogs OF Danny Mars as the PURE Performance Player of the Week for Week 8 of the 2021 American Association season.

Danny Mars Given PURE Performance Player Honors
The Minor League Sports Report and This Week in the Association announced that Chicago Dogs outfielder Danny Mars has been named the PURE Performance Player of the Week for Week 8 of the 2021 American Association season. Mars led the league with a .522 batting average during the week.
The Chicago Dogs began the week with a three-game series against the Gary SouthShore RailCats and Mars was spectacular, going 8-12 in the series with three runs scored and three RBI. In the opening contest, the outfielder went 2-4 with a run and two RBI in a 7-2 victory. That included drawing a walk. The next night Mars had his biggest game of the week, going 4-4 with a run and an RBI. He also stole a base in the game. Mars closed out the series with a 2-4 performance.
The team then headed to Sioux Falls, where the Dogs swept the Canaries. Mars finished 4-11wiht three runs scored, a double, four RBI and a homer. He also walked four times in the series and stole a base.
In the opening contest, the Dogs outfielder went 1-3, scoring a run and driving in two in a 5-3 victory. The next night was a wild affair that saw Chicago pull out a 13-10 victory. Mars was instrumental in that contest, going 3-5 with two runs, a homer and two RBI. He was held hitless on Sunday, but did draw walk.
For the week, Mars led the American Association with a .522 average and a .621 on-base percentage. He posted a .739 slugging percentage and had the top OPS at 1.360. Mars scored six runs and drove in seven. He walked six times and struck out just three times.
For earning PURE Performance Player of the Week, Danny Mars will receive a check for $100 from PURE. Mars became the first Chicago Dogs player to receive PURE Performance Player of the Week honors.
